FAQs

What do you grow?

1

We grow specialty cut flowers. We sell most of our flowers in straight bunches (a single variety to a bunch) but we also sell mixed bouquets, mason jar arrangements, and other products as they become available on the farm. We look forward to offering dahlia tubers and fresh produce as our farm grows and matures.

Can we visit the farm?

2

Visitors are welcome at the Farm stand during open hours every Sunday from late April through mid-October from 10am – dusk (or until we sell out!). The rest of our farm is not open to the public. The farm is our private residence.

Are you an organic farm?

3

None of the products from our farm are certified organic, however we use sustainable and all natural practices that keep Mother Earth and all her creatures in mind. We do not use synthetic pesticides or herbicides on any of our farm crops.

What flowers do you grow?

4

We grow a ton of specialty cut flowers, including rare, heirloom, and hard-to-find flower varieties that are prized for their fragrance and unique qualities. They are different from what you can find at your local grocery store or typical floral shop.

  • Spring: ranunculus, anemones, specialty tulips, narcissus, poppies, snapdragons, peonies

  • Summer: lisianthus, sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, lilies

  • Fall: dahlias, heirloom chrysanthemums, grains and grasses

How should I care for my flowers?

How long will they last?

5

We harvest our flowers at the optimal stage, condition them appropriately, and store them in a floral preservative that helps minimize bacteria, helps keep their color, and feeds them. You can usually get 4-7 days or more from our farm-fresh flowers. Some flowers naturally have a shorter vase life like poppies, sweet peas, and extra-large dahlias.

To get the longest vase life from your flowers, here are some care instructions to follow:

  • Fresh flowers are thirsty! Be sure to check your vase often and add clean water every other day.

  • Re-cut flower stems with a sharp scissors at a 45-degree angle every 2 days.

  • Keep flowers out of direct sunlight and away from ripening fruit.

DIY Bulk Flower Buckets FAQ

How far in advance to I have to order?

1

Please submit your request at least 6-weeks prior to your event date so we can include it in our schedule.

What kind of flowers can I expect for my wedding or event?

2

Flowers will come almost exclusively from our farm but occasionally, we will source flowers from other local farmers. Bulk buckets will always include focal flowers (they are the ‘stars’ of the floral arrangement), accent flowers (they fill the gaps and add volume to your arrangement), and greens or other seasonal foliage (they add structure and fullness to your arrangement).

Please see our bloom calendar to get a sense of what might be blooming for your event!

Do you offer custom bouquets, wedding arrangements, or full-service events?

3

Currently, we offer our bulk event flowers for you to arrange and design yourself. Please refer to our DIY Event Flowers page to see what types of arrangements our bulk buckets can typically produce.

Can I select specific colors or themes?

4

We do not offer specific colors or themes. We offer two color palettes: Soft Pastels and Bright & Bold. Our event flower buckets are best suited for events where you are flexible about colors and flower varieties!

Deposit and payment

5

A 50% deposit is required to secure your event date and requested buckets, due within 3 business days of our availability confirmation (we will send an invoice). The remaining balance is due 10 days before your pickup date.

What if I have to cancel?

6

Cancellations made more than 30 days before the event will receive a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit. Please let us know if there are extenuating circumstances and we will do our very best to work with you. Cancellations made 10 days or less before the event are non-refundable.

Pick-up and Delivery

7

Your event flowers will be packaged and labeled for pick up, with care instructions, at our farm. Flowers should be transported in an air-conditioned vehicle (like a van or SUV) that has seats that fold down flat. Flowers cannot be transported in the back of an open-bed pickup truck. Please arrange to pick up your order within the following time frames:

Thursday 10am – 12pm

Friday 8am – 12pm

Saturday 8am – 10am

For an additional fee, we also offer delivery in a 60-mile radius of the farm for orders of $500 or more. Delivery is $125 or 10% of your total order (whichever is greater). We are unable to transport flowers beyond this distance.

When should I pick up my flowers?

8

You will want to pick up your flowers 1-2 days before your event so you have time to arrange your flowers. You should store your flowers in a cool, dark place, that isn’t freezing. We do NOT recommend using a fridge unless you have access to a floral cooler. Keep flowers way from ripening produce. Fresh flowers are thirsty! Make sure to all stems are in water at all times.

Olympic Farms is not responsible for frozen or damage to blooms that occurs after pickup.

How long will my flowers last?

9

Flowers that are cut for our Event Buckets are intended to look their best for your event and are cut in peak bloom. This means they will have a vase life that is shorter than what you would expect from our market bouquets. You should not expect a vase life beyond a few days past your event.

Do you provide vases or mason jars?

10

No, we do not provide vases or mason jars. We suggest you buy mason jars in bulk (usually 12/box) from a local grocery store or general store. You can buy vases from your local florist or grocery store. Bud vases can be purchased in bulk, online, from Amazon. You can also source vases and mason jars from the thrift store or borrow them from friends or family.
